Who Am I:

Who Am I:

Who am I? Well, I’m your typical millennial who believes in HARD WORK and having a good work ethic. My name is Shaun Johnston, I currently reside in Louisville, KY, and work for Studio A Architecture (Studio A Architecture), a local firm here in town. I am working on becoming a licensed architect but I am fortunate enough to be experiencing the everyday, real world office life of an architect. If you are an architect or architecture intern, you might be thinking that I’m full of shit. You might be thinking that I am in my cubicle, head down working away in AutoCAD or Revit, designing bathrooms for 8-10 hours a day, but the truth is, I got lucky in finding a firm where the principal gives the responsibilities of an architect to anyone who is willing to take on the task.  I happen to be one of those people.  since starting, No two weeks have been alike. I have sat in on meetings with clients, ran meetings, surveyed sites, talked to clients, coordinated with contractors and consultants, written proposals and much more.

Now, throughout my day, I listen to podcast. Some are on the same subject but vary on topic while others vary on subject all together. I have my podcast that I will listen to as soon as the new episode comes out and I have others that I put off until I am in the mood or have time to listen to them. Three of the podcast that I listen to immediately are architecture driven podcast 1)Archispeak 2)Business of Architecture 3)The Architecture Happy Hour. All three of these podcast have hosts that have their own unique appeal. I highly recommend giving them a listen too and while you’re at it, check out EntreArchitect as well.  I bring this up, because they are one of the main reasons I am starting this website. They have increased my critical thinking on architecture as a subject as a whole by simply giving their opinions and sharing information.  I have yet to come across one of those podcast where for the duration of the show and some time thereafter that I don’t have ideas, questions or thoughts roaming through my brain. The problem though, there was no one around me to discuss these topics with. I found that the people around me are not as passionate about these professional issues or concepts.  So I am using this website as a way to communicate to people that might want to listen, the perks of the world we live in today, am I right?  So in other words, I plan on using this as a platform to transcribe my “OPINION” on topics. Some posts might be me bitching about something or it could be me simply putting ideas out there into the world for people to possibly ask themselves or ideas/concepts to think about. Now as far as the posts go, more than likely they won’t be that long and they won’t be that professional, i’m not a P.C. kind of guy and I can guarantee you, there will be misspellings and grammar mistakes.  This is meant to be a conversational website and one thing I promise to all my readers and viewers, I will always be respectful to anyone's views, ideas and thoughts.

Side note, you might be wondering why i named the website “Millennial Architect with all the scrutiny surrounding the term millennial”? The reason is simple, I’m proud to be a millennial and I want everyone to know it.  My hope is that anyone who visits this site wont have any preconceived notions about my generation but if one does, I  hope to change their opinion for the better.
